Choose POS Receipt Paper by Printer, Not by Width Alone
A POS paper roll should be matched to the exact printer and printing technology. Direct-thermal receipt printers use thermal paper, while impact printers with ribbons use different media. After technology and paper width are confirmed, compare the printer's maximum roll diameter, paper-thickness range and centre requirements before standardizing a roll across locations.
Printing technology
Direct-thermal printers use heat-sensitive paper. Impact printers with ribbons require different media and should not be treated as thermal-paper devices.
Printer clearance
An 80 mm printer does not automatically accept every 3 1/8-inch roll. Check the maximum roll diameter before moving to 270–292 ft formats.
